let your light shine

to them, that perish foolishness

This world is okay with you reading your Bible (at least in western cultures). This world is just fine with you believing what’s in your Bible. Yet, the moment you try to live, practice, and walk through what’s in your Bible, the world suddenly becomes your worst critic, your greatest opponent, and your ardent enemy. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

As long as you keep silent and don’t let your light shine, this world will be friendly to you. Yet, when you try to live out a born-again way of life, Satan and his children will seek to devour and destroy you.

Yet, we have overcome this world by the blood of the Lamb and by the testimony of all the saints who did not bow for one second before the god of this world.

The faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Exodus 14:5-29 records that Pharoah chased God’s freed people to the edged of a watery end. With great demonstrated power, they escaped by dry ground.

Daniel 3:23 tells us that the Angel of the Lord surrounded three Hebrew boys as they were cast into a flaming furnace and were not consumed by it.

Acts 7:54-60 documents that Stephan stood before his accusers expressing the glory of the Gospel; they stoned him. Still, his face had shown with the peace that passes all understanding.

“The most critical need of the church at this moment is men, bold men, free men. The church must seek, in prayer and much humility, the coming again of men made of the stuff of which prophets and martyrs are made.”

A.W. Tozer.

Our persecution is only for a brief moment. If we are martyred for what we believe, we gain eternal life. In Jesus’ words, He declared, “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and speak all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.”

Nothing shall separate us from our husbandman. Nothing shall overcome the actual body of Christ. Nothing shall prevail against the church unto a bitter end. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or sword? Romans 8:35

shout his name

Shout His name when you face adversity.

Shout His name when we see a troubling day approaching.

Shout His name when hearing the rattle of our enemy’s swords.

Shout His name when the clench of Satan’s teeth can be felt.

Shout His name when they tell you all is lost.

Shout His name when you stand for righteousness, and they hate you for it.

Shout His name when we make your stand against evil and injustice.

Shout His name when those who you trust leave and abandon you.

Shout His holy name when we seek peace but can’t find it.

Shout his name when victories come, and shout His glorious name when all is said and done.

Shout unto the Lord all those who are lonely and of a broken heart.

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved.

Psalm 47:1-9

In due season

In due season you shall reap blessing. At the appointed time of our God, you shall look upon His face. As far as the east is from the west is as far as He removes our transgressions from us. Psalms 103:12 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:9

Let your light so shine.

Sacred Desk is the official online writing ministry of Uriah Ocean Peterson. It is an exploration of the fascinating interplay between God's Holy Word and its application in daily living. Thus, we choose to satisfy the pangs of spiritual hunger through an intimate examination of God's Kingdom principles, line upon line being doers, not just hearers only. Our ultimate goal is to practice God's wisdom as living testimonies expanding the narrow glimpse of our temporal existence, moving toward the eve of eternal things. We are forever growing in Jesus, calling this generation unto Holiness by living the way, truth, and the life.
